A glorious fusion of Persian and Australian cultures at EMMA and SAM's whimsical garden wedding at Sydney’s Botanic Gardens.
Emma says, "We were really mindful when it came to all the little details on the day as we wanted to make sure it best represented both my Persian and Baha’i culture and Sam’s Australian heritage. We had a Baha’i marriage ceremony where we married ourselves without a celebrant or intermediary, just the two of us making vows to each other in front of our friends and family. It was super relaxed with afternoon tea, dancing to Persian music, shared dinner plates and a boat across Sydney harbour to the late-night afterparty at Sam’s waterfront family home.
"When it came to choosing my dress, I was looking for something that was classic and elegant but with a modern twist. I always knew I wanted a suit for my second look. I wore a gorgeous silk mikado gown by OWN for the ceremony and then a tuxedo also by OWN for the reception. I bought the gown and suit when I was living in London last year and couldn’t have been happier with my decision. The outfits were the perfect blend of a romantic yet modern woman.
"For any future brides my advice is to make choices about the day that feel authentically you! It will make the day so much more special and calming when you look around and see a reflection of you and your partner in everything around you. We have no regrets on cutting out or changing the traditional components of the wedding and replacing them with what reflects our personality."
