ELLERY + FLORENT

Just landed on British Vogue, a quintessentially idyllic English countryside wedding for ELLERY + FLORENT, with postcard perfect weather too.

We loved Ellery’s vision for her gown; a sleek 90s inspired effortless silk gown to match her custom Choo’s. On her dress, Ellery says: “I’m not someone who has always had a clear idea of what their wedding day would look like, but I knew I wanted the day to feel relaxed and intimate but still chic and refined with the dress to reflect that. The OWN Studio was the first place I tried dresses at once engaged and ultimately the last! I didn’t have any official wedding plans in place during my first visit, I went with my two best friends and it was very much to get a taste of what was out there, but I did fall in love with the minimal designs.

“As the direction for my day developed, I tried on dozens more dresses. Most felt too ‘bridal’ or costumey for my liking. My Pinterest board was filled with runway looks from early 2000s Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and of course Carolyn Bessette Kennedy - so naturally I was gravitating towards silk slip dresses with clean lines, but still felt like there was a bridal element missing. As my wedding date was creeping closer The OWN Studio released a new collection with STYLE 116 - a high-neck silk dress with a tied sash billowing down the back through the train in a beautiful liquid silk. I loved the drama of the low back which had a pearl-dotted strap, but wasn’t sure the pearls felt completely aligned to my personal style. After wavering back and forth I ultimately decided to customise that element of the design to have the dress made completely backless and was thrilled with the final result! A few of my friends and family had actually said this was exactly what they had envisioned I’d wear on the day which made me smile, I really wanted to feel like myself!”
